DROPPED TURNS

The Claim:

• When turns are dropped and vacancy procedures have not been followed first:

  • When Conductor xtra brd is exhausted, Item 43(d) requires the senior available applicant to the xtra board be used

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:

• You must print a copy of the permanent bid list for the extra board board (if you are not sure how to do this, see the instructions below).

• The snapshot of the board standings showing each dropped turn/turns along with what they stood to catch is also necessary.

STEP-UP CLAIM EXAMPLE:

On ___(date)   was on __(CIRC-7)     (BOARD)  working    (TURN ID)  turn. The   (TURN ID)  , &    (TURN ID)   turns were directly ahead of me on board. At   (time)  hrs the   (TURN ID)   stood to be called for the   (TRAIN ID)  , instead both turns were dropped without following vacancy procedures outlined in item 43(d), the Conductor Extra Board agreement:  “7(a)When the conductors’ extra board is exhausted, vacancies will be filled by the senior conductor available at calling time with written application on file"    (NAME) was the senior available bidder to the    (EXTRA BOARD)  board & should have been called. Claim 65 miles for step up to work   (TRAIN ID) .

SENIOR BIDDER TO EXTRA BOARDS

BASIC DAY MISHANDLING

• The senior bidder to the EXTRA board available at calling time (even if in LB status) is entitled to a claim each job ran behind dropped turns.

EXAMPLE:

Claim lost round-trip earnings from the __(CIRC-7)     (BOARD)     (TURN ID)  turn working the   (TRAIN ID)   on   (date)  , and the   (TRAIN ID)  on the   (date)  . I was the senior available bidder with application on file for the   (Extra Board)   (CIRC-7)   on   (date)  when the  __(CIRC-7)     (BOARD)     (TURN ID)  was dropped. Item 43(d) states, "WHEN THE CONDUCTORS EXTRA BOARD IS EXHAUSTED, VACANCIES WILL BE FILLED BY THE SENIOR CONDUCTOR AVAILABLE AT CALLING TIME WITH WRIITEN APPLICATION ON FILE" I was available and was thus deprived a round trip work opportunity.

HOW TO PULL UP THE BID LIST FOR THE EXTRA BOARD IN CMTS

1. Once you are logged into the cmts field menu through the Employee web site

     a.  Go to the “BIDS” drop down menu

2. Click on “PERMANENT BID LIST”

3. Fill in:

a. CIRC7

b. BOARD

c. CREW ID= ANY

d. POS= CON

4. This will pull up the bid list in seniority order.

5. Click on-line print

a. This will open a printable version

b. If this doesn’t work for some reason, do the following:

                                                           i.  Right click with your mouse.

                                                         ii.  Click “print” and proceed to print.

6. If you are in the depot, just put in your lata and print.
